Error message
Font is not embedded
Matterhorn error condition
31-009 (For a font used for display, the font program is not embedded.)
explanation
The document uses at least one font that is not embedded in the document (but is only referenced). In such a case, your PDF reader tries to load the font from your device when the document is opened. If this font is installed on your system, the PDF reader can display the content correctly. However, if the font is not installed on your system (and not embedded in the document), the PDF reader switches to a different font. This can lead to unwanted display errors and changes in the presentation of the content and should therefore be avoided.
solution in Adobe Acrobat Pro
solution approach
To correct the error, all fonts used must be embedded in the document. Common fonts (e.g. Arial) allow such embedding. However, please note that some commercially available fonts offer different licenses and therefore a special license for embedding in print media may have to be purchased.

More Informationpicture instructions
1. Search for the tool “Preflight” in the search bar and open it
2. Select “PDF Standards” (in the upper library dropdown) >
Activate “Select individual corrections” (wrench symbol) >
Select “Embed Fonts” >
Click “Correct”
As soon as you save the document and check it again with the PDF Accessibility Checker, the error message Font is not embedded disappeared.
When saving, make sure to give the document a new name (e.g. Document Title_Rev2) and not oversave the previous version of the document. This way, you can go back to the previous version of the document if something goes wrong.
Tips for Error Prevention
It is best to use very common fonts (e.g. Arial, Verdana, Times New Roman, Cambria, Courier New) to create your document. Most common fonts allow embedding and are sometimes automatically embedded in the document directly in the word processing program during PDF export. This way you can avoid this error in advance.
