explanation
There is a graphic in the document that is marked with a figure tag, but the graphic does not have a bounding box. This means that the dimensions of the graphic are not clearly defined. This means that it cannot be displayed at all or correctly in alternative document representations.

solution approach
To fix the error, the existing figure tag must be deleted and the graphic must then be re-tagged. The new tag will automatically create a bounding box for the graphic.

- In the search bar, search for the “Accessibility Tags” tool and open it
- Right-click the Figure tag >
click “Delete tag”
- In the search bar, search for the tool “Reading Order” and open it
- Double-click the graphic so that it is highlighted in color (while the Reading Order window is open) >
click "Image"
As soon as you save the document and check it again with the PDF Accessibility Checker, the error message “Figure” structural element without a bounding box disappeared.
When saving, make sure to give the document a new name (e.g. Document Title_Rev2) and not oversave the previous version of the document. This way, you can go back to the previous version of the document if something goes wrong.
Please note that you may now see the error messages “Figure” structure element without alternative text and Possible inappropriate use of the “Figure” structure element, but these are easy to resolve.
